  • 1st Place in Close Order Drill!!!!!Flagship Certificate

  • Tied for 2nd Place in Knockout!!

  • 3rd Place in Fire Fighting -- THANK YOU Aurora Fire Department and Explorer Post 99!

  • 5th Place in Color Guard.

  • 7th Place Overall - up from last year's 9th Place!!!

  • PO Dooley was recognized as the 2003 Region 9-1 Cadet of the Year.

  • The division enjoyed a special luncheon on Sunday after the Pass-in-Review Ceremony. We went to Lovell's of Lake Forest, established by CAPT Jim Lovell, USN(ret), Mission Commander of Apollo 13, and his son Jay, who is the Executive Chef of the restaurant. The food was great, and the cadets got to see a lot of NASA and Navy memorabilia from CAPT Lovell's career, including moon rocks and a piece of the Apollo 13 heat shield.

Events included First Call, Close Order Drill, Line Handling, Heaving Line, Semaphore, Stokes Stretcher, Boat Fender Relay, Marlinespike Seamanship, Fire Fighting, Color Guard, Bermuda Rectangle, Knockout Drill, and Personnel Inspection.


  • Mrs. Clayton for chaperoning at this event (including staying in the barracks!)
  • Mrs. Dooley for driving cadets to Great Lakes
  • Mr. & Mrs. Morrow and Mr. & Mrs. Widuch for driving cadets to Great Lakes and assisting with photographs and transportation all weekend.
  • A special thank you also to Mrs. Erickson, who drove up on Saturday just to help with the social!
