ATLANTIC OCEAN (Nov. 5, 2018)

An F/A-18F Super Hornet, assigned to the “Fighting Checkmates” of Strike Fighter Squadron (VFA) 211, lands aboard the Nimitz-class aircraft carrier USS Harry S. Truman (CVN 75), Nov. 5, 2018. Harry S. Truman is participating in Trident Juncture 18, a month long exercise designed to test NATO’s ability to plan and conduct a major collective defense operation – from troop training at the tactical level, to command over large elements of a NATO force. The exercise takes place in Norway and the surrounding areas of the North Atlantic and the Baltic Sea, including Iceland and the airspace of Finland and Sweden. More than 50,000 participants – including U.S. service members – are participating, utilizing approximately 150 aircraft, 65 ships and more than 10,000 vehicles in support of the exercise.
